Written by Sally Murphy
I caught a bug
put in a jar
watched it
hurrying
scurrying
worrying
how to escape.
Reminded me
of people I’d seen
on television
hope drained
from their faces
as they pressed
at fences
searching for freedom.
I took the jar outside
and watched the bug fly free.
