the senses i recall

Written by Lily Vaughan
cold showers look
like peeled oranges in the month of june
and wood panels sound
like a christmas jingle
just like you look
like i've known you 10 years
and the inside of a book smells
like the sun
when peanut butter sandwiches sound
like my sister’s voice
and coffee tastes
like religion class
painting my nails feels
like hunger
and the fourth of July got
really sad.
