RABBIT, RUN

Written by Shaun Jex
The rabbit knows it must evade the jaws
Of the yellow-eyed fox on the prowl
The fox, who hunts only for pleasure,
Leaving the bodies of its victims strewn
Across the cold soil of the fruited plain
but still
The rabbit knows it must eat to survive
So, he ventures out beneath spacious skies
In search of gleanings at the field’s edge
With nothing but a Spider-Man backpack
And a blue beanie in the way of armor
