DON’T BE AFRAID, IT’S JUST GEORGE

Written by Allison Phillips
a george spider crawls up
my leg the third day of heartbreak
my first one what a milestone
my grandmother gave them that
name she taught the
fear of spiders out of me
that’s just george,
a little jumping spider
so when
he sits on my leg it only
tickles a little it is
fitting to be reminded of a woman
I love so dearly when my
hands are
so thoroughly unwoven by the opposite
george says
you can always remake the web
