EDITOR’S NOTE: RESISTANCE

CO-EDITORS-IN-CHIEF KRISTIN HOULIHAN & MELISSA ROTERT

Friends, this issue makes me uncomfortable. More than uncomfortable, really—it scares me to publish it. When we came up with the theme, Resistance, sometime last year, it never occurred to me that the United States (where we’re based) would change so much that merely publishing a literary magazine that focuses on the free exchange of ideas would be considered resistance. And yet, here we are. This issue contains pieces that talk about various kinds of resistance, from personal to very publicly political, discusses that yes! it’s scary to resist, covers the consequences if we fail to step up, and calls the everyday, ordinary person to action. You don’t need to agree with everything in these pages (I don’t) to know how vital it is that we continue to platform and discuss disparate ideas, ways of thinking, manners of living. Thank you to our writers and our readers for being part of our efforts to support freedom of information, critical thinking, and engaged community-building.

Please stop by our first issue of NiblewitLit Mag, published in March, where we continue this conversation with pieces for and by young people on theme “Taking a Stand.”

Join us @EpistemicLit and @Nimblewitlit on Bluesky to continue the conversation!
