Judy Assaad is a recent graduate of Harvard Medical School’s Media, Medicine, and Health Master’s program and an aspiring physician. Growing up in Selma, Alabama, and working at the local pediatric clinic, she witnessed the realities of an underserved healthcare system. As a first generation Arab American, she also has been exposed to the global scale of health inequality through her time spent in Syria. Witnessing people cross borders for basic medications made her realize the intersectionality of healthcare issues across the world. Everyone deserves proper healthcare whether they are in rural Alabama or Syria. These experiences inspired her work at the intersection of medicine, equity, and storytelling. Her academic work has spanned environmental sustainability to mind-body medicine. At Harvard, she explored graphic medicine and released a narrative video game on Downpour called Hyp3rNeurovocalism that visualized the inner monologues of ADHD, challenging conventional framings of neurodivergence. Beyond medicine, Judy’s creativity thrives through radio hosting, graphic design, collage art, and writing. She brings a unique blend of research, clinical insight, and creative communication to her pursuit of equitable healthcare.
