Originally from Los Angeles, Doren Robbins is an award-winning writer and artist. His writings have appeared in over one hundred journals, includingThe American Poetry Review, Cimarron Review, The Indiana Review, The Iowa Review, The Journal of Experimental Fiction, Lana Turner, and Sulfur. Selections of his art have appeared in Another Chicago Magazine, Agave, Angry Old Man, Caliban, Cholla Needles, Club Plum, Empty Mirror, The Houston Literary Review, Moon and Sun, Otoliths, Paterson Museum of Art (writers that are artists exhibition), Pensive, Ranger, SULΦUR surrealist jungle, Red Wheelbarrow, Third Rail Journal of the Arts, Utriculi, and in The Ontological Museum New Acquisitions Catalog, and others. After thirty-four years teaching part-and-full time, he retired Professor Emeritus from Foothill College in 2022. Two books of poems were awarded prizes: Driving Face Down, awarded the 2001 Blue Lynx Prize; My Piece of the Puzzle, awarded the 2009 Josephine Myles Poetry Prize.
