You sit on the ground, crying, and hope that the entrance opens back up. Magic always seems so cool in the movies and in books, but now that you’ve seen it for yourself, you realize it’s a lot scarier than they make it out to be. You’ve made a big mistake.
You tear at the dense branches blocking your way, pricking your skin with the evergreen needles and getting scratches from the wood.
In exhaustion, you give up, letting your head drop back and staring up into the sky. That’s when you get an idea. If you can climb the tree, you might be able to see your way out—maybe even call for help.
You examine the branches, tugging and pulling to see if they can hold your weight. They seem sturdy enough, but the first branch is pretty high up and you’ll have to pull yourself onto it. After that, some of the branches seem far apart and you’re not sure it’ll be an easy climb.
And the tree is so tall…
