IF FACTS WERE HAMBURGERS

Written by Francesca L Rolle
The truth tastes like salt,
Too much of it and your mouth stings,
Throat yearning for watery lies,
Easier to swallow,
For something that won’t crystallise
into a despondent sediment
in the pit of your stomach,
Leave little cuts in your lips
bleeding with the pain of it.
Integrity isn’t as easy to consume,
So we let the UPF of media
sate our hunger for a better life,
Giving in to the cravings of blame
and ignoring the stomach cramps
telling us it’s wrong.
