WAS THIS POEM AI GENERATED?

Written by Monica Postma
I just read a Mary Oliver poem,
I usually read a poem before I write a poem,
To remember and learn anew how a combination of words and imagery together can evoke a
human feeling—
Loss, sadness, happiness, hope or fear,
Something so specific you could never name it, thought it had no name
Until someone—someone who died long ago, or someone who lives far away, or maybe
someone just across the street said: “I felt it too. Here, I named it: this is how it's called.”

Is that what AI does? When it scans a hundred thousand poems
in the time it takes me to blink an eye?
Is it relearning, each time it generates one, how a poem must feel?
Did it ever learn in the first place?

Was this poem AI generated?
How would you know?
