Written by Lisa Delan
And it’s another story
a house a dog a day
there was shopping
coffee and cooking
the synchronized intimacy
of chopping and clearing
washing and what to watch
before hours tangled with
breath rising breath falling
filling the room filtering
through raised windows
while the refrigerator purrs
paws stretched on the quilt
over bodies that have slept
for hundreds of nights after
thousands of meals and
myriad moments in the
syncopation of toothbrushes
dreams lucid or lost until light
rises yet again as new world
invites them in to another
turn of day to night and
somewhere in a
crystalled corner of
the room time chokes
and I blink and am gone
.
